Construction work is currently underway for the $450 million modernization project at J.D. Irving Pulp & Paper (JDI) in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The investment will involve a total of 1.2 million person hours of construction work over the next 48 months.
Civil work has begun to prepare the site for construction of a continuous digester. The existing chip handling equipment will also be replaced with state-of-the-art technology as part of JDI’s ongoing investment to stay competitive in the global market environment.
The phase of the project will create 450 direct and indirect construction jobs.
