Survival Systems Training Ltd. will break ground on a $5 million project to expand its emergency-training facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, reports The Chronicle Herald.

The expansion project includes a large training pool at the heart of the new emergency training complex. The pool will be equipped with a rescue hoist, dynamic moving ship hull and capsize simulator.

Survival Systems Training has secured a $4.6 million loan from the Business Development Bank of Canada. The company will use the money to construct the facility at a site immediately adjacent to the company’s existing facilities. The funding will also cover investments by the company in some equipment.

The project is expected to be completed by December.

The Nova Scotia government will provide $450,117 for the project through the Productivity Investment Program. The money will help cover the cost of some specialized training equipment for the facility.
