Big changes in plan for East Royalty

East Royalty (Prince Edward Island) will be a very different place in years to come if proposed changes to its planning and zoning are accepted, reports The Guardian.

Close to 70 residents gathered on May 21 to look at a draft master plan for the community. It is part of a neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood re-write of Charlottetown’s official plan.

The meeting heard of the potential for East Royalty to grow by nearly 11,000 residents, to perhaps 16,600 people over the next 25 years.

“This is a huge area,” said Ron Palmer of The Planning Partnership of Toronto, which is leading the planning process under contract with Charlottetown. “We also think there is a significant opportunity for jobs here.”
