An amount of $60 million will be spent on 48 harbour improvements over the next two years in Nova Scotia, according to Peter MacKay, Nova Scotia MP and federal cabinet minister.
A news release issued Friday provides details on 17 of the 48 projects. That portion will cost approximately $20 million and includes harbours in Pictou, Kings County, Guysborough County and across Cape Breton, CBC News reports.
The federal government said upgrades “will provide a safer and more efficient working environment for harbour users and local fishermen.”
