The Municipality of Barrington in Nova Scotia has awarded a tender of $647,396.50 to Aberdeen Paving Ltd. for the Woods Harbour sidewalk project, reports The Coastguard.
The sidewalk will be constructed from asphalt as opposed to concrete as a cost saving measure.Contractors were asked to submit bids using both materials. The lowest price for concrete, also submitted by Aberdeen, was $711,342.50 plus tax.
The one kilometer section of sidewalk will begin at Cemetery Road and link to the existing sidewalk in Central Woods Harbour.
Construction is expected to begin next week and will take an estimated 12 weeks to complete.
