Repairs on the decorative crosswalk on Church Street and Havlock Street in Amherst, Nova Scotia, started on July 2 and will continue over the next week or two, weather depending, reports Amherst Daily News.
The crosswalks were installed in September but the late season installation may have made it difficult for the thermoplastic tiles to bond to the asphalt and they ended up taking a beating from the changing temperatures and snowplow blades.
The work was covered under a warranty agreement between the contractor and the Town of Amherst.
The town awarded the contract last August to England Paving and Contracting Ltd. for $95,000 plus applicable taxes.
