Halifax: April home resalesfell 29.2%

In April 2013, home resales in the metro Halifax area were down 29.2%, compared to the 2012 number,The Chronicle Herald reported, citing the Conference Board of Canada.

This decline was the biggestin Canada for the month and follows a pattern of reduction in the city extending back to the beginning of the year, according to the news report.

The year-over-year decline in resales for April earned a buyer’s market designation for the Halifax area, and translated into actual sales of 529 units during the month, compared to 665 for the same month in 2012.

Prices were up slightly in the Halifax market during April, compared to the same month in 2012, along with the decline in sales.
