The Miminegash in Prince Edward Island is planning to build a new bridge, reports Journal Pioneer.
According to provincial bridge engineer Neil Lawless, the existing structure is in need of a complete overhaul. A tender for the project has been issued by the province.
“We’re going to demolish the existing bridge and drive steel pipe piles and construct a new bridge,” Lawless said.
The total budget for the project is about $1 million. Lawless said he is hopeful the new bridge will be open for traffic in January of 2014.
