Minas Basin Pulp and Power, on behalf of the Alternate Resource Energy Authority (AREA), will build, subject to regulatory approval, a new wind project near Ellershouse, Nova Scotia, reports The Register/Advertiser.

The yet-to-be-named wind turbine project is being spearheaded by the Alternate Resource Energy Authority (AREA), which was created by the towns of Berwick and Mahone Bay.

It is expected that the wind project would include up to seven turbines on a 300-hectare site. The wind facility will deliver the generated electricity to Mahone Bay and Berwick.

If approved the authorities, construction could begin in mid-2014 and electricity could be produced by late 2015.
