Halifax regional councillors approved several changes to the design of the new downtown convention centre, reports MetroNews.
At a public hearing, many people opposed the changes to Nova Centre, which affect the width and shape of the towers on the mixed-use development and the relocation of the convention centre from under to above ground.
The most contentious change involves handing over a portion of Grafton Street as part of the development. The revised plans suggest the street will be used for public programming and events, but will be owned by the developer.
