St. John’s plans to spend $270M on infrastructure upgrades

The City of St. John’s plans to spend $270 million over the next three years on infrastructure upgrades, reports CBC News. The city has released its 2013 capital works budget.

The city will spend $60 million on expansion to the St. John’s Convention Centre. The city plans to spend more than $38 million to resurface and repair streets and sidewalks. The city has set aside $6 million to upgrade the water mains under Portugal Cove Road and Mayor Avenue.

Work on the roads, underground infrastructure and buildings projects will begin this summer.
