Prince Edward Island’s Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Robert Vessey is asking drivers to drive very carefully at highway construction sites, reports The Guardian.

Drivers are requested to slow down, read the signs and watch for workers at highway construction sites, Vessey said.

“During this peak highway construction period, Islanders should anticipate road construction, stops and detours. When approaching and driving through construction zones, drivers are urged to stay within the reduced speed limits and pay careful attention to signs and directions,” he said.

Vessey added: “Every day, flaggers see cars speeding through construction zones where there may be uneven pavement, loose gravel and heavy equipment at work. When this happens, road workers worry about their own safety, as well as the safety of drivers and passengers.”
